Hey everyone sorry it's taken so long. This is the final two weeks of school and i have project after project due. I had the opportunity to go to the David Archuletta concert and it was awesome i was nine rows back from the stage. The only problem was i was basically underneath the speaker system, not the best experience. Oh well that's aobut it for now. LOVE YA ALL!

Gods Everlasting Love & Message for Rob and Co

Me and Katie had the opportunity to go to a unique concert the other night. It was the premiere performance for God's Everlasting Love which is part of the Sacred Music Series. Elder David A. Bednar wrote the words for the song. He came to the concert last night and it was AMAZING!! here are the words. they were in the program they gave us. (ps Katie Typed this up and I copied it from her blog. I'm such a cheater :)"

PRELUDE – INVOCATION

I.
God’s everlasting love:
We will make an earth whereon they may dwell,
and prove them to see if they will do according to the plan.
For that purpose was the earth created. For that purpose we are here.
Will our natures be transformed bringing us closer
to God the Father and His Son?
Subject to desires of the flesh, we yearn for a mighty change of heart.

Our hearts are changed by His love, God’s everlasting love.
The natural man declines – a Saint arises.
Through the Atonement of Christ the Lord,
our fallen nature is changed – bad to good, good to better.
We become new creatures through His love.

II.
As God’s love strengthens us, we act – we change.
We become agents who act, rather then objects that are acted upon.

Arches, Moab, and the Grand Canyon

Hey everyone. So for my geology 111 class we went on a camping field trip between the 15-18. It was an intense three days but so worth it. I took over 600 pictures so I will limit down to just the basic one to give you an idea of what we did.

Hey this is was my paper for D&C

I couldn’t really decided what to do my lto on and then one day the majority of my classes all assigned talks that had to do with the atonement and the final judgment day. While I read through the talks I decided to share my thoughts and feelings with my roommate and together we both came to love and understand how much we truly are dependent on the savior’s sacrifice for us; and how much we will need Him to be there for us in the last days.
Elder Dallin H. Oaks referred to the following parable in a talk he gave in 2001.
“…the owner of the vineyard hired laborers at different times of the day. Some he sent into the vineyard early in the morning, others about the third hour, and others in the sixth and ninth hours. Finally, in the eleventh hour he sent others into the vineyard, promising that he would also pay them “whatsoever is right” (Matt. 20:7).
At the end of the day the owner of the vineyard gave the same wage to every worker, even to those who had come in the eleventh hour. When those who had worked the entire day saw this, “they murmured against the goodman of the house” (Matt. 20:11). The owner did not yield but merely pointed out that he had done no one any wrong, since he had paid each man the agreed amount.”
I was reading through the talk given by Elder Packer titled The Mediator it just stood out too me how much we really needed to rely on the Lord when it’s time for the day of final judgment. I think deep down I have always had this thought of “he will have mercy whether I repent or not.” However Elder Packer stated: “Each of us, without exception, one day will settle that spiritual account. We will, that day, face a judgment for our doings in mortal life and face a foreclosure of sorts.”
I believe that one of the main misconceptions about hell is that God will be merciful and not really make anyone suffer. Or if he does cause us to suffer to any degree then it will not be forever because of the belief, that Elder James E. Talmage stated in the April 1930 conference talk, that “hell has an exit as well as an entrance”, that they will just walk away shortly afterwards. Or that they will just receive a slap on the hand and a telling off and then they will be fine.
One of the major things I have learned about the final judgment day and gained a greater understanding of how we need someone to defend us for when we are on “trial” before our heavenly father. And that we, like Elder Packer stated it, need to have both mercy and justice in one setting. Because of the idea of mercy and justice it put the atonement into a new type of setting for me. I gained a deeper understanding about what it really had to offer to me personally. We really could not pay for our own sins and if we didn’t have a mediator who could take on our debts then we would all suffer in Hell.
It also just made me think about how we need to repent, whether it’s easy or hard, we need to be willing to admit what we have done is wrong and truly repent for it. It can be such an easy process, to comprehend maybe not so much actually using it, it seems weak on our part if we do not use it to our full advantage. I personally know how hard it is to overcome sin and use the atonement.
When I was talking to my roommate about my ideas on the atonement she referred me to the scripture in Doctrine and Covenants 19:4 it states: And surely every man must repent or suffer, for I, God, am endless. And that just coincides with what I stated that even if it is not easy to repent for a sin. It will be better to do it now and not wait until a future date, because you do not know if you will be able to live to that future time or not. Alma 34:33 it says “… I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity.
I truly have come to love this gospel and I am personally so grateful that when I do sin it does not have to go onto a “permanent record” and that I have the opportunity to wipe and record clean through the atonement. And I hope that when the judgment day come I hope to be able to have our savior Jesus Christ being my mediator before Heavenly Father and say that I have performed will full faith and I did you the atonement to its fullest.

Dear Friends and Family,
I had a wonderful experience today and I wrote Matt about it. But I have the impression that I need to post it for you guys as well.

IN my D&C class we watch the movie on Wilford Woodruf's (spelling?) conversion. I have seen the movie at least ten times before but for some reason it touched me more than before. For the last couple of days I have been severly stressed out trying to adjust into school mode. And my homework load for my classes has been hard on me. But halfway through the movie I just felt cokmpletely at peace for the first time in several months. I really don't even know how to explain what I feel right now. We are so lucky to be able to live in a day and time where the gospel is so readily available to us.

I know this seems random but I reallly felt like I needed to say it. Plus it is going to be part of my journal entery.

So I am now back at school, for those who didn't know, and I already feel like I am drowning. It's been insane. For my Geology major I have to take a class called Physical Geology and he's having a read from a textbook every night. And they are insanely long chapters. However the material is really interesting and I enjoy reading about it.
My classes this year consist of D&C/Church History, Middle East, Physical Geology, Geology Lab -- I might be able to go to the Grand Canyon YEAH!--, Marriage Preparation, Trigonometry, and Family History. By the way for Family History I have reached a dead end on one of the lines if you guys have PAF's or anything please please please let me know.
The last name is from the Gibbons line, I need more infromation on the wife of David Mead (born May 4 1671) named Abigale Leane. But we only know that she was born around 1670 in Germany. If you could help me find her information that would be nice.
Also for those who didn't know the church has come out with a new geneology sight. www.new.familysearch.org.
IF you want to you should make an account and then add our parents (or your parents if your not my sibs.) and grandparents and then it'll bring in all the geneology history as far as the system has into a paf for you. It is AWESOME and very helpful.

Anyways back to my school update. :) They are basically finished with the construction in the middle of campuse so no more detors around it we can not cut straight across. But it was worth the wait the new Eating Gallery, called the Cross Roads, is large and very well stocked.

Well I need to start on my homework I'll try to update more often. I think I am going to open a new blog page for my "52 weeks to Happiness Personal Journal" updates so everyone can see. If I do i'll let you know.

Field Trip

So for my natural disasters class we went on an all day field trip. We started at the Teton Dam and ended up...somewhere in Montana at Hebgen Lake. If you want I can post the specifics for each (or any) disater. Let me know.

So I have a chance to go to China for a semester to teach English to children in schools. I want to know what you all think. The total cost for the trip is 800. This includes airfare, a china single entrance visa, a private apartment on campus, stipend meals, training and support by horizon reps, and a ready-to-use cell phone upon arrival. Just let me know what you all think. If I take this I'm going to probably end up going in a year from now.

So for my humanities class the boys had to write a poem requesting us to love, or marry them. Or pretty much to woe us. And we had to reject them. With some help from Katie. And MAJOR help from dad this was the final draft:

Footsteps in the sand is the best way to sum up my learning for this term. If I have learned anything is that I need the Lord more than anything else. This past week I was told I was Anemic from the doctor. I have never felt so scared in my life; and I had no idea what it was and I didn’t no anyone who has had it before. I have never felt so alone. Then the other day I was going through some of my old journals and I came across the following quote:
Footsteps In The Sand
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him
he looked back, at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

This was the most comforting thing that has happened to me. I then went through all the main points from lessons and I realized that even the prophets of old have moments like this. And even if we do not have the same problems and trials we still need the Lords help.
When I was diagnosed I felt like my world had ended and yet if I have really learned anything this term it’s that we fall to be lifted. And that we need these moments in life to know what it’s like to be free of them. I am really grateful to my “family” here at BYU-Idaho for being so understanding and helping. And also for the book of mormon class to be able to start off my weeks.
And I am so grateful for the Atonement and what it has done for me and I know it will help me with my future trials.

Why Yes on Prop 8

With the gay marriage act that was passed on November 18, 2003 the definition of family was changed forever. Gay marriage would now be taught for a normal occurrence in schools and could no longer legally be looked down upon in or by society. With this change in culture the true nature of what a family could and should be was ruined.
After this change two years later in 2006 Catholic Charities USA ended it’s adoption work in Massachusetts after more then 100 years of service because the anti-discrimination laws required children to be placed in same sex homes.
Also All families had and have been effected when this law was passed in Massachusetts and even more will be effected if Proposition 8 fails. The California Teachers Association Opposes Prop. 8. They state that: Prop. 8 has nothing to do with schools; And that it takes away fundamental rights. Have these teachers investigated what has happened in Massachusetts? If so they how can they say it will not effect schools, and school districts? If prop 8 fails then same sex marriage will be allowed to taught to children of all ages.
Mrs. Parker was shocked, to say the least, when her five year old son brought home a diversity book bag that carried a book called “Who‘s in a Family” this book introduces children to same sex households. Mrs. Parker and her husband went to the school and requested a notice for when teachers within the school could broach the gay marriage topic with their child, and asked for an option to opt out when these things had been planned on being discussed. The administration came forward and said that this was not a parent notification issue; because the fact that same sex marriage was legal. Also at this time it became required to keep your children in school. “it is our sacred duty as parents to guide our child .” When the administration denied parents these rights they took on the parenting role for themselves. When Mr. Parker tried to fight their decision he was thrown in jail for a short period of time.
How far will this be taken in California? Parents should have the right to what their children are being taught and schools should not have the right to take that away. Can we let a law fail that will help us keep the moral definition of a family in tact. And if it does fail why should we have to lower are values for that of the states. Just like the Parker family all families will have to put their children through similar experiences. We need to stand up for what we believe in. For the sake of our children if this proposition fails then what state will next try and take on gay marriage. This started in Massachusetts but now being debated in Cali and will start happening one state at a time; but if we do not allow this to pass again who can say that the other states are not next. We need to stop this from spreading and stop it now and not later.

So anyways I had all these plans to update yesterday, sunday, however I had to fullfil my calling and do some of my geneology work. I was planning on only being there an hour however before I realized it I had already spent 2 and 1/2 hours in the lab. GO ME!! :) I feel like I've barely made a dent but it is a start. Oh well classes are ok as of right now but... Sadly I have to go to a study lab I'll finish eventually. LOVE YA!!! And see the majority of you on thanksgiving, sorry Debbie and Rob.

Alababma Judge

Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall.. Please read the poem he wrote. It's below his picture.

The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama . Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge's poem sums it up quite well.

Bowser and Mr. Phish

I can't remember if I've told you yet but I have two pet fish. They are both male betta's so they need seperate swim/play area's but they are a joy to have, since mom and dad wouldn't let me get one when I was still at home I had to go to plan B. The first one I got dosen't have a name so we've been calling him Mr. Phish until we can find out a good name. My new one is now Bowser I don't know why but Me and My FRIEND, sorry just emphasizing that, (DON'T SAY A WORD KATIE!) :). Anyways me and Matt bought some Ben and Jerry's the other day and it reminded my that they have Phish Ice cream so that's how I got his name. I had to take the pictures with my cell phone so you can't see their colors really well.
Mr. Phish is mostly blue.
However Bowser is dark red in the middle it's head is black red. And it's fin ends are blue and red stripped. ;)

Hey Everyone,
Well mom came up us friday and left yesterday but as much fun as it was I'm still not home sick, thank heavens. If you haven't checked Stephen and Noels blog yet you should do so soon. I am the only one home right now as two of my roommates are in Utah and the other is with her mom somewhere.
I'm having a lot of fun up here and so far the weather hasn't been to bad. Only it did start snowing around fivep.m. yesterday and still hasn't stopped it hasn't been that cold. For those who do not know I received a calling last sunday. I am a family history consultant. And even though I'm not a hundred percent sure what I am supposed to be doing I enjoy doing our own family history and I'm learning interesting things from it.
Well I'm going to make something to eat. And yes mom I will use the cans you gave me. Well love and miss you all

Here are the pictures of the temple and my room mates. Sorry i didn't update on sunday school has decided to be mean and i've had little time to sleep and eat between classes, work, and prework (homework only you do it before you have class.)

We, well I, got a pet fish for our dorm it is a male beta and he is really colorful I love him. I'm considering buying one when I get home from school. I'm contemplating on posting all my papers on here and I want to know your guys' oppinions.

Well class starts in five minutes so I'll try and add more later.

I'm still working on trying to get the pictures posted. And one i figure it out i have some awsome photos of the temple to show you. So far all but one of my classes are going fine. My favorite is book of mormon probably because all we do is talk about what we read, which is around three chapters a night. For those of you who don''t know i have a custodial position on campus from four am to seven am and that alone is very taxing. one of my co workers namve fabrisio say i won't last the month. I've told him i would and i will. I really enjoy the job.

I always new college life was different but it seriously is just that different. I have non stop homework and i did the math for require hours here it is:

16 credits = 48 hours of in/out of class study

56 hours of sleep, eight hours a night.

3 hours of church a week

15 hours of work

----------

122 total

hours in a week = 168

hours of free time = 46hours

As i said my schedule is hetic. I didn't include inspection, random, cleaning time, laundry time, etc.

Well it getting closer to the time that my class starts I'll probably blog once a week. on fridays.
